Acts 1:8
"But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth."

Matthew 28:18~20
And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, "teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen.

A Christian missionary is one who has been called and commissioned by the Lord to make disciples and to share the Gospel. In reality every Christian has a mission to make disciples.

A Christian missionary is obedient to the call of God, to share the good news of the Gospel to our neighbors across the street or across the other side of the world. In this sense, ministering in our local area is just as much missionary work as serving in the jungles of Africa or the forests of South America. Missionaries live in every place that you can imagine; some in deserts, some in the jungle, and others in large urban areas, towns and villages, some in places of extreme heat or cold climates.

Missionaries have a biblical mandate which involves evangelism, discipleship, and church planting. This can be accomplished through street preaching, church building, bible studies, distributing Christian literature, teaching English as a second language, relief projects, etc.

Missionaries come from all walks of life, many will give up their professions to devote themselves full time to where the Lord has called them to.

Jesus assured us that missionaries will face surrender and suffering. Missionaries leave family and friends behind, experience culture shock and rejection. Even though they often experience these things, they instead learn to take pleasure in serving God therefore, serving not out of duty but love.

At Faith Baptist Chapel we support our missionaries financially and prayerfully and others we commit to support through prayer only. Some of our missionaries have come from our own congregation, others are from other like-minded Churches that we have felt led to support.

Please pray along with us for each missionary that is out there devoting themselves to the work of the Lord.
